Our staff at Moving On are trained to delivery and facilitate a number of recognised support groups and training programmes. In addition to this, we encourage our service users to train to be peer support leaders and facilitate groups, in particular SMART Recovery meetings.
Pacific Institute STEPS To Excellence
The STEPS programme is designed around the core concepts of the Pacific Institute’s knowledge base and will enable service users to develop and understand important areas of thinking in relation to;
Developing motivation and Self Confidence
Increased productivity
Increased confidence , self belief and motivation
Increased ability to successfully manage growth in themselves
Improved resilience and morale
Builds spirit
Improves communication
Improves the ability to manage stress
The theory behind STEPS is that everyone is capable of being more effective, engaged and productive in their personal and professional lives but not everyone realises their true potential. This programme helps to unlock the secrets of how habits, attitudes and beliefs and expectations can either support or inhibit positive outcomes in their everyday lives, and empowers the changes that lead to sustained improvements in all aspects of life.
SMART Recovery
At Moving On, we solely focus on Drugs and Alcohol as a closed group for our service users - to find a group that supports other problematic behaviours you can search for groups on the SMART Recovery UK website (link at the bottom of the page).
SMART (Self Management and Recovery Training) is a programme that provides training and tools for people who want to change their problematic behaviour, including addiction to drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, gambling, food, shopping, Internet and others.
Guided by trained peer facilitators, participants come to help themselves and each other using a variety of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and motivational tools and techniques.
The SMART 4-Point Programme includes:
Building and maintain motivation
Coping with urges
Managing thoughts, feelings and behaviours
