Moving On Inverclyde is committed to protecting your personal information and respecting your privacy. This privacy notice explains how we collect, use and protect your personal information when you engage with our services. Moving On Inverclyde acts as a Data Controller for the personal information we collect and process.

 

The information we collect

To provide recovery support services we may collect and process personal information including:

  • Your name, address and contact details
  • Information about your presenting circumstances and support needs
  • Information recorded during assessments and support planning
  • Records of contact, support provided and progress reviews

Some of the information we collect may relate to your health or wellbeing, which is considered special category personal data under UK data protection law.

We only collect information that is necessary to provide appropriate support.

 

How we get your information

Most of the information we process is provided directly by you when you engage with our service.

We may also receive information from partner services involved in your care or support where this is relevant to your referral or ongoing support.

These may include:

  • NHS services
  • Addiction Recovery Services (ADRS)
  • Partner support services involved in your recovery

 

Why we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • contact you and arrange support
  • assess your needs and plan appropriate support
  • provide recovery, harm reduction and wellbeing services
  • record engagement and monitor progress
  • work in partnership with other services supporting you monitor and improve services

 

Lawful basis for processing your information

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on include:

Article 6(1)(e) – Public Task

  • Processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest.

Article 9(2)(h) – Provision of Health or Social Care

  • Processing is necessary for the provision of health or social care or the management of health or social care systems and services.

In some circumstances we may also rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

 

Sharing information

In order to support your safety and wellbeing, we may share relevant information with services involved in your care, including:

  • NHS services
  • Addiction Recovery Services (ADRS)
  • Partner recovery and support services
  • Emergency services where there is a risk of serious harm

Where possible, we will discuss information sharing with you.

However, if there is a serious risk of harm to you or others, we may share information without consent to protect safety.

 

Communication with service users

Moving On Inverclyde may use WhatsApp broadcast messages to share service updates such as activities, events or office closures.

Messages are sent by Moving On Inverclyde staff only and cannot be replied to within the broadcast list.

Your telephone number may be visible to others within the list. Your name will only appear if another person already has your number saved in their contacts.

If you do not wish to receive these messages, please inform your keyworker

 

National monitoring systems

As part of national monitoring and improvement of drug and alcohol services, we may record information about your engagement on the Public Health Scotland DAISy (Drug and Alcohol Information System).

This information helps improve understanding of drug and alcohol support services across Scotland.

 

How we store your information

Your information is stored securely within Moving On Inverclyde’s case management systems.

Access to personal information is restricted to authorised staff members involved in delivering support.

We take appropriate steps to ensure your information is stored securely and protected against unauthorised access.

 

How long we keep your information

We only keep your information for as long as necessary to support you and to meet legal, safeguarding and commissioning requirements.

When you leave the service, your records will normally be retained securely for up to six years from the date of last contact.

After this time, records will be securely destroyed.

 

Your data protection rights

Under data protection law you have the right to:

  • Request access to your personal information
  • Ask for incorrect information to be corrected
  • Request deletion of your information in certain circumstances
  • Object to how your information is used in certain circumstances
  • Request transfer of your information to another organisation in certain circumstances

If you would like to make a request, please speak to your keyworker or contact us directly.

We will respond within one month.
